They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  At Bella Vista, we agree, but think it should also dish up a healthy dose of love.

Every 2nd Tuesday, professional jazz musician, Greg Harris, helps all of us find our inner-Ringo Starr.  Even those of us without dementia get into the groove.

Let us know what you think!

Who says at the age of 91 you can’t learn modern technology?

In the spring of 2009, Karen and Gary left Boulder, Colorado on a month long vacation to Australia.  It was particularly important for Karen and Gary to stay in touch with Karen’s mother, Sally.  Sally is a resident at The Academy at Bella Vista.  Before they left, they set up Skype on a computer at The Academy at Bella Vista.  The caregivers and other family members gave video chatting a shot, but they weren’t sure if it would work.

Check out the video below of Sally’s first time “skyping” across the world.

The Social Hour, continues to draw families, friends and caregivers into our distinguished setting.  The entertaining is complimented by piano accompaniment and appetizers created by The Academy’s Executive Chef, John Butera.

We thought it might be a good idea to start blogging about what makes us different. There are many things that distinquish Bella Vista. The first being really, the setting, the suites and the care givers themselves. We have given enormous amounts of time to make sure that each of our guests feels at home. This as many of you know is no simple task – for those suffering with dementia this is particularly important.

This facility is unlike any other. Maybe it’s because one of the residents at Bella Vista happens to be a family member.
